Mark Johnson has been conducting computer forensic examinations for 19 years. He was a police officer and sergeant for the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department for 14 years where he established the Computer Crimes Unit in 2001. He obtained his CFCE in 2002. He became a full-time EnCase instructor for Guidance Software in 2002, but he missed conducting computer examinations. He was hired by the United States Attorney’s Office in late 2002 and was assigned to the Heart of America Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory in early 2003. He has worked on several high profile cases, such as the BTK murder investigation and the Bobbie Jo Stinnett homicide case. He has testified a number of times as a computer forensic expert in state and federal court and he continues to teach for IACIS and the RCFL. He is a team leader, works on course development, provides presentations to local civic groups, churches and schools regarding Internet safety and maintains a significant caseload.
