In August of 2024, the Board of Directors of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) held a significant meeting that resulted in the establishment of a new scholarship program, the “EMEA Scholarship.” This decision marks a pivotal moment in the IACIS’s efforts to expand its educational offerings, particularly in the EMEA region.
This strategic move underscores the organization’s commitment to making high-quality cyber-forensic training more accessible to professionals beyond the Americas.
The “EMEA Scholarship” is specifically designed to support professionals who exhibit exceptional initiative in establishing or expanding their organization’s digital forensics capabilities. By providing full access to the BCFE course, this scholarship will enable recipients to develop the necessary skills to lead and innovate within their institutions, thereby enhancing the overall resilience and effectiveness of digital investigations on a broader scale. The scholarship recipient will have the course tuition fees waived and will be provided with all the course materials, equipment, and hotel accommodations at no cost.
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be working for an agency involved in conducting digital forensic examinations that contribute to advancing Justice and protecting human rights. This includes, but is not limited to, law enforcement agencies, paralegal organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other relevant entities. IACIS aims to award this scholarship to the individual who demonstrates the greatest potential to make a meaningful and lasting impact on their country, region, or community.
Applications will be open from May 15th through July 15th. During August, a selection will be made from eligible and vetted applications. The official announcement will be made on September 1st via email. The name and Agency of the Scholarship recipient will also be announced on IACIS’ ListServ (members’ email list) and will be publicized in various social media posts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram).
