Volunteer since 2018 in the areas of Training, Certification, and QA.
During his BCFE course and peer review phase, Mario was impressed with the organization, the staff, and the camaraderie within the IACIS community. Both his row coach (Zach Neemann) and peer review coach (Tom Thomas) encouraged and inspired Mario toward earning his certification. Once he earned his CFCE, Mario started volunteering for IACIS and stays in touch with the peer review students he has helped over the years. He will never forget what it was like just starting out in this field and the camaraderie he experienced through IACIS. Helping others in similar situations and to see them grow and make a positive impact in their communities is beyond rewarding for him.
After a 15-year career in law enforcement, specializing in crimes against children and other major crimes, Mario is now a Senior Information Security Engineer for Farmer Brothers. Outside of work, Mario enjoys being a pilot and sharing that experience with his family and friends. He’s a fan of the outdoors, camping, and taking in the scenery through photography, with a special appreciation for long exposure photography. His creativity extends to woodworking, creating custom police badges and memorabilia, and is passing on these skills to his kids. Mario will happily try local beers (except for IPAs) and whiskey and bourbon for a good old fashioned during his travels, but he avoids cheese (unless it’s on a pizza)!
